Basic Training (Required 10 hours)
My approach is for consultees to understand the foundation of EMDR by learning the goals of each phase, and integrating cases to solidify the knowledge using an AIP approach. Supportive material created will be provided.
In these consultations, consultees would become familiar with case conceptualization, client & therapist readiness, target selection, treatment planning and the integration of EMDR therapy into their clinical practice.
Required for Certification: 20 hrs total, 10 of which must be individual (all must be completed within 5 yrs). 15 of these hours can be from a Consultant-in-Training.
My role is to evaluate the consultee’s ability to implement the standard EMDR therapy’s eight phase protocol and support situations in where modifications to the standard protocol are necessary for the client. I will provide you with a case conceptualization sheet and any necessary material as clinical cases and questions are presented.
Required: 20 hours. Only Approved Consultants can provide you these hours.
There are two tracks for Consultants-in-Training:
a) Schedule hour by hour, and recording a consultation with a consultee of yours will be optional.
b) Scheduling at least 10 hours is required, and recording a consultation with a consultee of yours will be required. This track is structured like an internship to ensure CIT’s are meeting EMDRIA’s standards for this phase.
Expected of you: The CIT is expected to work with at least five different consultees, three of whom have already completed the EMDR basic training in individual or group setting.
Expected of Adriana: The consultant is expected to review, evaluate and determine the readiness of the CIT as part of the process.
Feedback is focused on your skills and ability to provide consultation to other clinicians based on material presented by the CIT, direct observation, or recorded observation.
